Well I was trying to get everything organized and put away and that has now been accomplished except for 6 boxes in the master bedroom that I still have to organize. I would put up pictures of the porch but right now it is covered with Kurk`s games as his new car is residing in the garage and the outside shed is not yet finished.

We Are In (except for Kurk)

Well April 17th was the official move in day and the first night spent in our new home. Kurk is still in Halifax so the kids and I did the big move with out him. The movers arrived at 9 and 8 hrs, 2 trucks, and 5 men later almost everything was moved. We are still waiting for the interior doors to be hung and the kids keep throwing the breaker anytime they plug something in upstairs but otherwise most things are in order. The rock work should be finished tomorrow and the painter has painted outside and just has the trim, belly boards etc. to do. The stairs and laundry room need grouted and I just finished sealing the stairs so hopefully they will be grouted tomorrow. i will post the finished pics when I have cleared enough boxes that I can see the floor once again.

I can see the end

Well the move in date is less than 2 weeks away (hopefully). Kurk left this morning after finishing the stairs yesterday. I went to the house at 5 this morning and cleaned it once again as the painter is going this morning to start taping off so he can paint the trim. The counter tops are all at the house and 95 % installed. The plumber is coming on Monday to install the sinks, toilets etc. Chad has 1 day left of finishing. Derek is grouting the en suite and entry way this weekend which means I have a lot of scrubbing to do afterwards. I will not up load any more pics as I am waiting for the finished product.

Nearing the End

Well I have not posted in a couple weeks as my computer has been down and things are busy. The biggest stress right now is renting out all the places. Hopefully that will be done this week and I can start to focus on moving. The house is coming along well all the cabinets are in except the laundry room and the counter top has been ordered for the kitchen. The counter I ordered for the bathrooms is going to take 7 weeks (time I don't have) so I am going down tomorrow to pick out a new one that hopefully won't take long. As we decided we liked the slate so much we are now going to do the stairs as well. The bathrooms are all tiled except the shower in the en suite and the entry way still needs to be grouted. A couple of the stairs are done so that leaves 13 left to do. Kurk has got all the flooring done upstairs and has got the playroom done downstairs and is on to the hallway, living room, and finally our closet and bedroom. The siding guys are almost done (haven't I been saying that for the last month:p) I have picked out all the pulls for the cupboards and all the bathroom hardware. Chad is busy putting up all the closet organizers, rods, shelves etc. All the windows and doors are framed (except the patio door) and a lot of the baseboard is done. Chad has been doing an excellent job and it is so good to see him back at work after 1 1/2 years. The yard should have to topsoil on it next week and the patio and driveway should be done. All that is left for me to figure out is how to move house with 7 children and Kurk in Halifax......MOVERS:) oh and I get to hire someone to clean my old house.

Things are progressing quickly

This is rachel`s room. The girls both have the same colored rooms.

This is looking from the top of the staris along the hall to the girls rooms.

This is Kurk and Joshua hard at work. Joshua got to skip school to help because he has proved himself as being very helpful and very eager.

This is looking at the front door as they had set the mat down to start tiling. The open door is in to the garage and the other opening is the laundry room.

Well the house in now fully painted on the inside, the interior doors are all in, Kurk is almost done the flooring in the suite and the tiling is well underway. Chad is starting on the closet doors and then will start on all the trim. Kurk should be done the flooring in the suite tonight and will start on the stairs tomorrow. Derek has the entry way, downstairs powder room and most of the kitchen tiled and will then grout it. The upstairs bathrooms and suite bathrooms have all been started and will be tiled probably tomorrow. Our Cabinets will all arrive on Saturday (all 462 cartons of them) I have to have them sorted out by Monday. They are working on the exterior (still) and will hopefully be done by early next week:)

Ready for the long haul

Well we spent the day we left on vacation buying tile, laminate flooring, and all our cabinets for the new house then headed to our hotel for a short sleep before our flight. We are now back and the house has been all drywalled and mostly mudded. The ceilings that are being textured are all done. They have started working on the exterior and it is about 1/3 done (a lot less than we expected) but they should be done by the end of the week. The painter should also be ready to start at the end of the week which means that Kurk will spend this week picking up all the flooring and taking it to the new house so he can start the install about the 4th or 5th of March. It I estimate correctly we will be in the last week of March beginning of April.

Drywall and away we go

Well things will be busy while Kurk and I are away. They have drywalled all the suite and 98% of upstairs and all the garage. They will finish drywalling tomorrow. The rain screen is all finished. The insulation will be blown into the attic tomorrow as well. The garage doors will be mounted on Wednesday and the last inspection before move in inspection will occur on the firewall separation between the suite and the main house. The natural gas will also be hooked up this week. While we are away it will take them 7-10 days to mud the drywall and the outside should be mostly finished with hardiplank and trim. The painter will start just after we get back then it is onto floors, cabinets, and finishing.

I can see painting on the horizon

The glaciers got 1/2 the house insulated today and the whole house is now papered. We have passed all the inspections so far. The framer has to come and shim a couple of windows and add a 2x4 to support a floor joist and we are ready for drywall on Monday.

Electrician is done

The electrician got all the pre-wiring done this week. They started to paper the house today (4 days after they where supposed to start) and got the bottom 8 feet all round the house completed. The bobcat operator was in and leveled off most of the yard and prepped the area ready for the back patio, walkway at the side of the house, and driveway. We need about 2 more loads of fill to finish off the back yard. The framers came in this morning and corrected a couple of things that the engineered required to pass the roof trusses. All in all it was a productive week. The insulation is slated for Wednesday and then hopefully the drywaller's can come in on 9th.

Things are moving along

This week was productive. The plumber is all finished and it all passed inspection. The insulation is in behind the bathtubs and the fireplace. The roof is completed and the gutters are in. All the interior doors are ordered. The pocket doors have been installed. The exterior doors are all in and the garage is boarded up on one side. We are just waiting for the exterior paper and rain screening on Monday and for them to take away the extra OSB then we will board up the other side of the garage and start drying the place out. The built in vacuum is 1/2 installed and will be completed on Monday. The electrician is starting on Monday, but we have already gone thru the house and marked out all the switches lighting, cable boxes, phone , and Internet stuff. Our friend Brian came over and has measured and laid out both sets of kitchen cabinets and all the bathroom cabinets. I am meeting the bobcat operator today to get a quote.

Never Ending Changes

This morning when I arrived and the framer and plumber where conferring on the fireplace we had purchased - apparently very large - we decided that the best thing to do was move the picture window over a bit towards the patio doors in order to fit the fireplace in. The framer also enlarged the pantry so the fridge would fit in better. Tomorrow I am meeting with the door specialist to order all the interior doors and on Wednesday meet with the electrician to go over where we want all the lighting, switches etc. I also ordered the garage door today. When I arrived back this afternoon all the bathtubs and the fireplace had arrived and had been put into place.

All clean

Front Door with the den beside and upstairs is the suite bedroom and Richard's room.

The side of the garage and the suite entrance.

The back of the house. The upstairs windows at the back are bedrooms and downstairs windows at the back are the master bedroom (on the back right) the living room, patio door, and kitchen window. The side lower window is the ensuite and the upstairs windows are Kayla's bedroom at the back and the suite kitchen window near the front.

A picture from the back corner of the lot. The piles of dirt should hopefully be all spread out this week.

Today we finished cleaning the house and all around the outside. We also had our friend stop by and do the kitchen layout. Chad also came by and went all through the house to see what framing things still needed to be done.

A Day of Cleaning

Well after 3 truck loads of scrap lumber and 1 truck load of garbage hauled away we called it a day. We will go back tomorrow to finish off clearing everything up. This week we will see the plumber finish up, the electrician start the pre-wire, the gutters in and hopefully the siding will start going up (after the rain screening).

Framing Complete!!

The framing is complete. The roofers are 1/2 done and will finish up on Monday. The plumber arrived today and cut out all the holes for the pipes and will start pipes on Monday. I did the walk through for the vacuum installation today and picked out the gutter colour.

Roof, Windows, and Doors

The roof is complete and the roofers will be starting on Friday to put the shingles in place. The windows started going in today and hopefully the doors will be delivered tomorrow and we can lock the place up!!! The framers should wrap things up this week

Trussess!!!

Well all the inside walls are complete, the outside is all sheathed in except for the back wall and the trusses arrived this morning. The framers got most of the trusses up today and it should take about 4 days to cover it all in OSB. The roofer will be there next week followed by the plumber and the electrician and the rain screen and siding should be starting in a couple weeks.

Interior Walls and Closets...

Well after it snowing again last night we headed to the house to remove more snow. I don`t know it will ever dry out as there is so much water in every room. We cleared out the huge pile of snow from the bottom of the stairs so hopefully the framers will add the 2nd set of stairs tomorrow. Almost all the upstairs walls and clsets are framed. I think all that is left is framing the upstairs powder room and 2 bedrooms and closets. Then hopefully we will get trusses on Monday and it will be all covered by Friday so the roofers can start.
